Maldivian Political Turmoil: The Role & Impact of Social Media

First of all, I would like to highlight that this post, is not in anyway related to any political affiliation and Limopalm is not affiliated with any political party or personality. We have Limopalmians with different political opinions, yet we respect each other’s stand, which does not affect in anyway to how we work, what we work on and our teamwork.

Within the past year, we have seen various political uprisings, from which the Arab Spring, London riots and Russian election riots are all noteworthy. If you have been active in Twitter or Facebook, I am sure you would have been better and more frequently updated by the social networks about these events than the International Media. We have all seen movements such as Occupy Wall Street and Arab spring on twitter, uniting people miles apart to fight together for one cause. It helped the word spread quickly, keeping every single follower tuned of what’s going on with various hashtags on Twitter & dedicated pages & groups on Facebook.

Three Years: A Retrospective

Happy  Birthday Limopalm! Three years have passed since the beginning of Limopalm and we feel so proud to be a part of it. Previous anniversaries have been very different from this year. On 2009, I remember very clearly like it was yesterday, we had just one computer, one desk and a small little office. On 2010, we had three desks, three computers and one sofa. On the year of 2011 moved in to our brand new offices. Speaking today, in 2012, we now have  a separate lobby and working area, with a work  area suitable for six people, with 5 computers, all the necessary gadgets, a glass framed whiteboard, comfy sofa, a separate meeting area, a coffee room and a large relaxing balcony with the breathtaking view of the Indian  Ocean. This is our progress visible  and we are proud of it. But this really is only the beginning for us, as our ambitions far exceed than our current achievements and we look forward to what the future holds. There is a whole wish-list of things yet to work for.

Copywriting: Our Thoughts & Experiences

Copywriting

Copywriting is one of the most integral phases of the development of your website. In fact, it is the bread and butter of many websites, and most of the time is set as a less priority by most of the clients. We sometimes do blame ourselves for less attended and poor content in a website, because we somehow missed pointing out how important it is to our clients.  A few of our nicely designed and functional websites rich in various features do not seem to be complete at all or even near satisfactory, since content has been missed out as a precedence.

Quality Comes With a Lot of Things!..

Like every other place on earth, Maldives has also got two types of Web Developers / Designers, those who are motivated by passion & those who are motivated by money. Of course we all know that money motivates everything, but it has got to have its limits. What I am talking about here is the difference between quality and quantity, uniqueness and copies, reliable and uncertain. Look around the Maldivian design community; you will be able to find a lot from the money-motivated segment rather than passion-motivated segment. Continue reading
